THE TEST DRIVE




Like it or not, you've been dragged from your world into the sanctum. It's a pretty nice city, all things considered--sci-fi, high-tech, glamourous.... Except, of course, for the giant dome encircling it, and the threat of glitching, contaminated zombies at your door. Looks like humanity's built itself a fortress that looks suspiciously like a cage, too.

The object of this meme is to get people familiar with the world of the Sanctum, and to try to see if their characters would fit in a sci-fi utopia such as this. Here are your options:

1. Intro: Waking Up. Make your intro post, folks. You wake up in a strange place, and get a strange transmission to go with it. What are you going to do?

2. Failed Upgrade. One of your upgrades is more wrong than right. How will you cope? What exactly is different? Who will help?

3. Mission outside the dome. You've come under fire. The strange things are coming towards you. Luckily, you have your suit, your teammates, and a lot of firepower. Or are you stranded on your own, looking for someone to come to the rescue? Perhaps you're the rescuer.

4.Infected Something bit you. Now you're turning into them, and all you can hear is a high-pitched squealing in your head, like a frequency you just can't quite hear. Do you tell your loved ones, or do you wait? Do you trust your doctor?

5. Military training Everyone's got to start somewhere. You're training the green folks, maybe you're one of the newcomers yourself. Maybe you haven't even touched a gun before in your life. Either way, you'd better start now.

6. Chance encounter makin' my way downtown walking fast, faces pass--you get the point. You bump into someone! Shopping, or strolling in a park? Maybe just lunch in a cafe?

7. Glory to the Network! Network post. Text with general queries, say what you have to say to the entirety of the whole city.

7. Wildcard: Whatever you want. Mix and match, switch and swatch, make something else up entirely!

[ also a misfire because of simplicity and 1 am. the ugly google-glasses-spinoff communicators they have come equipped with voice recognition just as bad as siri, and when hers refuses to accept stiles stilinski as a real name with real pronunciation, she's forced to spell out his number and somewhere- somehow - gets it wrong. ]

[ This is some Fallout shit right here. Not for the first time he's feeling a little out of his element. It's not so much the lack of humans or the looming threat of a horrific plague or the confined living space. All of that can easily be found in OFF. It's, once again, not knowing exactly what's going on and having only the flimsiest excuse of his existence. He probably can't even sell things here, can he?

Any good horror game needs a merchant, right? That's what he reasons as he stands in a convenient, if sketchy, corner of a business sector. He stands with his frog mask and backpack. Several baseball bats jut out from it.

She won't be so dramatic as she was with say, a certain angel. Instead she just wanders over to that shady corner with a carefully neutral expression on her face, leaning against the wall in her best impression of 'subtle'. ]

[ they're on an exploration mission - some colony that feels like continents away from the dome. everyone's suiting up. making sure their phasers are charged. double checking on oxygen levels. in the corner of the ship -- grimm's making a speech to the new recruits. they've been here for years and this is all too routine for steve. steve has the shield that tony made him (and modified) strapped on his back. he's sewn a star on the shoulder of his suit for a hint of familiarity.

they aren't assigned on the same team. the callsigns were smart enough to know -- they'd both be distracted. steve's not worried. he knows she can hold her own. god knows he'll do anything he can to keep her safe, but with peggy around it's the dysthropes or kilo's guys that have to be scared. still - the assignments don't stop him from spending the shuttle ride next to her. they stop him from napping on her shoulder in the long hours of the flight or getting her water when she complains she's thirsty. steve knows the dangers of this place first hand, but he knows -- peggy can't keep herself from this either so he doesn't protest at her going to missions - even once.

he does stop her before she puts on her helmet. before they leave and step out into. ]

Wait. [ catching her by the waist and dipping her down a little - like a proper 40s man. ]

[ it's been too long since she's seen his signature on the network, too long since he'd been accessible. things happened like this in the sanctum, but she can't even begin to describe how happy she is that one of her friends one of her friends is alive.

it's tempting to lecture him - this is why you have to watch your back around here, this is why we have to pull out of this, this is why you don't just DISAPPEAR without her coming along with you, but instead, she's just thankful to see him, sitting propped back.

[Confused doesn't even begin to describe how he feels. He remembers bidding farewell to his new allies on earth, capturing his brother, and going back to Asgard. He was expecting the familiar starry sky and glittering structures of his homeland, not.....this. Thor stands near a ledge, observing, wondering, adjusting-ish, but more importantly, worrying.
