OOC :: APPLICATIONS

APPLICATION

➤ The Sanctum is a game that accepts the following:
• Canon Characters
• Original Characters
• Fan Characters. Provided they have NO relationship to the characters already established in canon. For example, a Homestuck Fan Troll would be alright but the character cannot be directly related to say: Karkat.
• Fan based AUs - such as modern adaptations, genderbends, etc. We also allow canonmashes - combining two existing fandoms together as AUs (For example: A Hunger Games AU of Sansa Stark). We advise to strongly consider how the events of those particular universes would affect your character.
• Silent Protagonists.
• Characters with CR/Memories from other games.
• Characters who are native to the setting. ( AUs and OCs )
• Any combination of the above.

➤ You will be allotted THREE DAYS for revisions. Failure to do so will result in an automatic declineApplications that have been declined will also have to wait ONE MONTH before reapplying.

➤ Applications and samples can be both linked or pasted into the comments.

➤ Because of the delicate nature of some events that occur within game, you must be over 18 years old to apply.

➤ When posting your app, we prefer it in the body of the comments, and with the character's name, canon, and whether they were reserved or not reserved in the subject line.

➤ Go ahead and re-use an old app to fill in the formatting below. Applications submitted with alternative formatting will not be processed.

➤ Everything else will be detailed within the application, feel free to ask us questions should the need arise.

Wow, I am so sorry about the links, I totally had a brain fart when I was putting in the URLs! Here is the official site's list of his augmentations, and here is the list on my journal (which I think is easier to read). Sorry again about that!

Adam's moral ambiguity can be linked directly back to his childhood. In game we learn that his mother was mentally unstable enough to where she was deemed ineligible for adoption which was part of the reason they, more or less, stole Adam as a baby. Part of her mental state was thinking it was alright to start dragging Adam out of school to go on fun little day-trips, which taught him at a young age several things. Firstly it taught him that the established norm (staying in school) was something that was flexible. And secondly, he developed a protective personality out of concern for his unstable mother. This is all explained canonically, read by the player in the notes of a private investigator that was hired to do a background check on Adam.

This leads Adam to seek out a career in which he could fulfill that protective role, that of a police officer. He excels in his career and eventually joins the SWAT team. However, his moral ambiguity asserts itself when he comes across a situation of either following his commander's orders or not -- Adam chooses not to follow his superior's orders, and instead quits the force. His friend on the force is forced to do the actions instead and it ruins his life. In this particular situation we see that even before augmented or faced with the situations he is in the video game, Adam does what he feels is best despite what others feel or what's good for them.

As far as his augmentations go, his most line from the game is "I never asked for this." The only reason he was augmented, was because of a clause in his work contract that said his boss could do all kinds of augmentations he wanted on Adam. Furthermore, he only needed one limb replaced but his boss decided to cut off all four to replace them with the augs he wanted Adam to have. Adam was not conscious for most of this surgery. Waking up to find you are a paraplegic with prosthetics would be, needless to say, very difficult. When the game begins Adam has been out on physical therapy for six months -- in his apartment we find books about learning how to use his new prosthetics. The whole procedure was very callous and cold, and there was no humane transition between having his body changed in such a traumatic way into machinery.

We learn late in the game that the only reason Adam was even hired there, was because his ex-girlfriend Megan was experimenting with his DNA which was engineered to be compatible with augmentations. The whole process from beginning to end was never genuine, Adam never had a choice in it, and he was manipulated. His whole life he was more or less a lab experiment. All of this defines a sense of injustice in him and resentment toward his augmentations. His parents weren't genuine, his girlfriend wasn't genuine, his boss wasn't genuine, and therefore affects any relationships he encounters. His whole life has been manipulated and he's learned not to trust people or trust that people will care for each other, or even know what's best for one another.
