( something in her lurches, disconcerted, when she catches sight of herself in the footage, blocking less well-intentioned access to someone struggling to drag an injured friend from the chaos with a well-aimed elbow to the throat. a blow to the back of the head drops her a moment later - hard to accommodate every angle in that kind of atmosphere, the crush of people - and it's a blink and you'll miss it moment. maybe he missed it.

she keeps her hands in her lap and does not, although she wants to, gingerly touch the back of her head. it isn't as if she'd find anything there, after more than an hour.

Why crush it like this, if only to make people forget?

( riots make better news than peaceful protests, if they can be spun right; stripping credibility from the protesters, undermining them in the news. but there is no news, because barely a handful of people even remember it happening. )
